Hygge. Our Scandinavian neighbours I'm sure most of us have come across the Danish concept of "Hygge" - a feeling or moment which one describes as cosy, content, charming or special.  This doesn't have to be an extraordinary event but something as simple as enjoying time alone or with friends in a relaxed, comfortable environment.

Although the word may be Danish, in Scotland this idea of cosy time in the winter is certainly close to our hearts.  The Croft House is located at half the distance to Stavanger in Norway than to London and even Copenhagen in Denmark is closer.  We share long dark winters and light summer nights when we virtually see no darkness with our Scandinavian neighbours.

This feeling of cosiness was the inspiration behind our new ladies knitwear designs.  Chunky yarns give a feeling of cocooning which is further enhanced by details such as a generous cowl neck or deep turn-back cuffs.  Contrasting stitch patterns add extra interest to these hand framed jumpers.

We think that for effortless, comfortable yet stylish dressing these are the perfect go-to sweaters, leaving you to create your own moment of hygge.

lookbook image 2016-2017 It's been rather a long time since my last post for which I must apologise.  The last few months have been a bit of a whirlwind!   We've been busying ourselves making a lot of changes which many of you will have noticed.  The Croft House website got a brand new look.  We started our instagram page (find the instagram button at the bottom of all the website pages).  After many requests for a catalogue we launched our first ever lookbook which you can find on the menu bar of the website.  And our first trip south of the Border to the London wool fair gave us the opportunity to meet new customers.  Not to mention that we had our busiest winter yet as more and more people discover The Croft House.

The Spring is always busy as we prepare the new autumn winter designs.  But we are also hard at work bringing new innovations.  We have just launched our international website pages (accessible to our customers overseas) and customers now have the opportunity to leave product reviews on the UK website if they wish.  We are always keen to hear from our customers how we can make The Croft House better so drop us an email on our contact page if you have any suggestions!

London Wool Fair The Croft House is looking forward to participating in London’s first Wool Fair on Sunday 25th September. The fair accompanies the traditional London Bridge Sheep Drive staged by the Worshipful Company of Woolmen, one of London’s oldest livery companies. We will join other woolly brands and urban street food vendors for a great day out.

Situated about 300m from the north end of London Bridge, find us at stall 11 in the middle of Monument street.  We’ll be just a stone’s throw from the 62-metre-high Monument to the Great Fire of London of 1666 which started in Pudding Lane.  The fair runs from 9am to 4pm.  We hope to see you there!
