I was watching my young daughter playing with her wooden blocks one day and was intrigued by the haphazard nature of the finished result. Whereas an adult would have aligned the rows, she played with no regard to regularity and neatness. Sitting with my sketch pad I realised this to be completely at odds with the repetitive nature of my designs and so "building blocks" cardigan was born. If you look very closely you will see that one of the rows is slightly askew to the others - a nod to the child-like nature that remains within us all!
The Grey colourway was inspired by this photo of Loch Torredon. The dramatic scenery of the mountains and loch are punctuated by the stark white and bright red of the croft house in the foreground.
