Designers Notes
As well as fair isle patterns, Shetland is also known for the fine lace shawls and stoles produced in the 19th century which were made popular by Queen Victoria. I wanted to produce a design to reflect these 2 styles, creating this 2-tone fair isle pattern which uses a delicate combination of stitches reminiscent of lace.
