Chest

Measure from armpit to armpit.

Total sleeve length

Designers notes - the inspiration behind Breakwater pattern

Gansey jumpers were traditionally worn in the fishing communities around the North Sea coastline of the UK. Each port was said to have had it's own distinctive pattern which macabrely was thought to help identify the victims of ship wrecks. I wanted to produce a modern gansey yet still keep the classic features associated with gansey knitting. I was inspired by the breakwater at Peterhead harbour which was constructed by convicts between the 1880s and 1950s using granite from the local quarry. You can see the block construction in the pattern.
